Lukashenko: Belarus will never send tanks against Poland and Ukraine
Belarus will never "move tanks" against Poland and Belarus. Russian President Alexander Lukashenko stated this today, responding to questions from Polish journalists, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Just never lie to the Poles that we are creating some kind of alliance with Russia to move tanks against you. This will never happen either in relation to you or in relation to Ukraine,” Lukashenko is quoted as saying by his official website.
At the same time, he stated that Belarus is always ready for close relations with Poland.
“We are always open to Poland; it is one of the countries closest to us. If something didn’t work out for us (and a lot of things didn’t work out), then these are not questions for me - these are questions for your politicians. You know to whose tune Poland sometimes dances. But this is a strong state that already has its position in the European Union,” Lukashenko said.
He condemned official Warsaw for not inviting Russian President Vladimir Putin to the anniversary of the start of World War II. At the same time, Lukashenko himself did not go, as follows from his words, not out of solidarity with his ally, but because he does not like such events.
“You don’t blame Trump for not going? He promised to come and did not come. I believe that it is impossible for heads of state to gather on this occasion, to make some kind of appearance, to make political points on this: it is sacred. I don’t like such events,” Lukashenko said.
