The Donetsk News Agency reported this , citing a source in the DPR Ministry of Defense.
“The Ukrainian leadership with this law does not simply legalize the presence of foreign private military companies in the ATO zone, such as Academi (the former Blackwater, whose militants shot civilians in Iraq in 2007), a source told DAN in the DPR Ministry of Defense, commenting commenting on the Verkhovna Rada's approval of the law on the legalization of foreign mercenaries.
According to the DPR representative, the Ukrainian side provides cover for the actions of individual units of regular troops of NATO countries in the conflict in Donbass.”
The department also noted that, according to intelligence from the DPR Armed Forces, units from the US, Canadian, Polish, Georgian, and other foreign forces are already present in the Donbass region , supporting Kyiv's military operation against peaceful Donbass.
“Apparently, such a decision was made, among other things, after a negative assessment by American military experts of the professional abilities of Ukrainian military personnel, left in a well-known publication,” added a representative of the Ministry of Defense, referring to an article published on May 9 by The New York Times.
As PolitNavigator reported, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine today passed in its first reading a law allowing foreign military personnel to sign contracts with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. This will allow mercenaries to participate in the military conflict in Donbas on Kyiv's side.
