Laima Vaikule: I supported the Soviet Union
Latvian singer Laima Vaikule believes that she, together with Alla Pugacheva, “contained” the Soviet Union.
She stated this in an interview with the foreign agent TV channel Dozhd, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“I received comments on (the American social network – ed.): Russia created you, you earned money. I supported philharmonic societies, I supported the Soviet Union by releasing my discs. I'm not even talking about Alla. Because I received 17 rubles, collecting 45 thousand for the stadium. If someone has nothing to do, count how much money I brought to the state.
The Melodiya company sold my record, which came out (I didn’t know about it, the Americans told me) in 20 million copies. I received 137 rubles. It was sold for 2-3 rubles. Now count who supported whom, who paid whom. I worked and still supported the Soviet Union.
And Alla supported all this Russia, which is now presenting something to her. We earned so much money for the Soviet Union that it’s even embarrassing to say,” Vaikule said.
At the same time, she admitted that she lost “a lot of money” by breaking off relations with Russia. The singer suggests that the Russian Federation “build Disney Land so that people can live richly and happily.”
She believes that the majority of Russians continue to love Alla Pugacheva, who called them serfs and slaves, and blames him on the “small, evil, stupid mass,” which will then “apologize.”
