The “Crimean Platform” is becoming a diplomatic failure for Ukraine
Ukraine was unable to attract half of the countries that supported its position on the peninsula at the UN to the “Crimean Platform” being created.
Political scientist Andrei Zolotarev stated this on Channel 4, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The expert recalled that the day before, it became known that 28 countries and international organizations would be represented on the "Crimean Platform."
According to him, this summit can only put the topic of the peninsula on the information agenda, but it will not bring any political results - everything will be limited to just another PR.
“The minister’s assessment is overly optimistic. Well, what else should he say? To say that out of a hundred countries that supported Ukraine’s position on Crimea at the UN, at least 50-odd would have supported it. Well, at a decent level of representation. Still, Buttigieg, of course, is an unconventional politician in all respects, but I would like to see at least the United States Secretary of Defense or Secretary of State, and not the Secretary of Transportation. Here too you need to understand. But from the point of view of ensuring that the issue of Crimea does not disappear from the information agenda, reminding that Crimea is Ukrainian is justified here. But this is purely a PR effect, but it will not bring the expected political consequences,” the political scientist is convinced.
PolitNavigator previously reported that experts believe the "Crimean Platform," concocted by Zelensky's political strategists, is just another "95th Quarter" show that will lead nowhere.
Interestingly, for example, the US Secretary of Transportation, Peter Buttigieg, will be delegated to the summit, which suggests that the Americans have not abandoned Ukraine, but also do not intend to irritate Russia by attending such events.
