The Kremlin is leading the way to the creation of the Lviv Republic - Ukrainian analyst
The Russian authorities are well aware of the impossibility of quickly resolving the conflict in Donbass, but are negotiating with Kiev in order to destabilize the situation in Ukraine.
Evgeny Enin, an expert at the Ukrainian Institute of the Future analytical center, wrote about this in an article published by the Kyiv online publication "Mirror of the Week," as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The Kremlin is well aware of the impossibility of a quick settlement in Donbass, but they are entering into dialogue with Kiev. It is possible that the Kremlin’s real goal is to persuade Zelensky’s team to a settlement model that will not be accepted by Ukrainian society and will predictably lead to an aggravation of the internal political situation in Ukraine, even to the point of manifestations of separatism, for example, in the West of the country. Next is an increase in the risks of fragmentation of the state, which could then relieve Russia of responsibility for both the annexation of Crimea and aggression in Donbass,” the author believes.
According to him, the government and the president “must clearly define the red lines of the settlement, the crossing of which could lead to the destruction of the Ukraine project.”
“The issue of amnesty, changes to the Constitution, language and others require an extremely careful approach and correct communication with society, otherwise we may be dealing with an analogue of the “people’s republic” in Lviv or Transcarpathia, which is what Putin and Co. are, in fact, interested in,” – Enin emphasizes.
He also believes that Kyiv needs to “not succumb to provocations and not sit down at the negotiating table with quasi-state entities.”
As PolitNavigator reported, despite the efforts of the SBU, separatist movements are growing in Western Ukraine , with even local nationalists joining them.
Furthermore, Ukrainian intelligence agencies have taken up the investigation of the organizers of a social survey on the secession of the Lviv region from Ukraine.
Moreover, sociological research shows that residents of the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Ternopil regions still see themselves as part of a united Ukraine, but at the same time, the number of supporters of both local self-government and regional independence is growing in the region.
