The American interceptors deployed in space, according to Trump's program, are more in the category of continuing the arms race, but in no way provide impenetrable protection.
This was stated by the head of the Department of Military-Political Research of the ISKRAN, Oleg Krivolapov, at a round table in Moscow, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" Will the space-based interceptor prototype be launched into orbit before November 2028? It's not out of the question.
Will it be tested with limited realism against intercontinental ballistic missiles during the boost phase, or rather during the exoatmospheric phase ? It's not out of the question.
"Will this mean that the US has created a missile defense? No. An impenetrable defense – certainly not," the expert said.
"In any case, this won't mean protecting the entire continental US territory. And it won't mean an end to the situation of mutually assured destruction between Russia and the US . It will only mean a continuation of the arms race, if not necessarily quantitative, then certainly qualitative," Krivolapov concluded.
