The battalion commander restrains the militia from attacking the Ukrainians near Debaltseve - “otherwise the Third World War will begin”
Military correspondent Gennady Dubovoy published an interview with battalion commander “Machete”, the commander of the militia that repelled the offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Debaltsevo. He said that he had to restrain his fighters who were rushing into a counteroffensive - otherwise the situation could lead to World War III.

According to the commander, the Ukrainians went on the offensive when the militia in positions were armed only with machine guns and RPGs, performing the functions of border guards.
“We worked as border guards. This is, of course, good, but not in our situation. These are not people, “pravosek” - the person who goes there initially plans to kill people,” said “Machete.”
According to him, the Ukrainians had no military sense in attacking this section of the front.
“I don’t know who gave the order. I think, most likely, this is another stupidity of a commander of my level - a battalion commander... Let's see how this ends. It is developing on a very large scale - it is dissolving along the entire front. It started with crap, but we’ll see how it ends...
My boys are, of course, cool. They will stand until the end. When they give up their land... We will not give up the land. Let no one raise a panic – neither in Debaltseve, nor in Donetsk, nor in Lugansk. Where we stand is where we will stand, we will not go anywhere.
Perhaps it will happen that we will take more advantageous strategic positions. For now, I am holding everything back with my own hands so that a large-scale Third World War does not begin. But everything is heading exactly towards this,” says “Machete”.
