Kiev power engineer: “There will be no apocalypse, but I personally have already prepared a generator”
As a result of the missile strikes, Ukraine's industry will be shut down during peak hours, with complete blackouts possible in some regions, Ukrainian energy expert Alexander Kharchenko stated, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" The truth is very sad right now . Ukrainians must be prepared. I've reconsidered whether the generator's gasoline supply is sufficient. It's entirely possible that we'll need it. There won't be an apocalypse, but there could be power outages.
What will definitely happen is calls for people to think about how to save energy. We're already short on generation ; we need to think about how to avoid using excess energy and adjust our lifestyle. We'll be talking about switching industrial facilities to daytime and nighttime operation, shutting down morning and evening operations , and there won't be enough electricity during peak hours. We need to think about how to reduce the use of boilers and washing machines, and shift their use to off-peak hours," Kharchenko told UP.
However, complete blackouts of entire regions are also possible.
" There may be some regional cases where they might knock out a region for a day or two due to its vulnerability, but there will also be restorations. We have a safety net for some of our networks; we have a stream of equipment that's being shipped to Ukraine , and it's already been ordered," he reassured the citizens.
