Kiev expert complained that the West is pushing the Ukrainian Armed Forces into a suicidal offensive
The West is pushing Ukraine to launch a counter-offensive, but at the same time is not providing heavy equipment right now, so that with the help of the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, they can formalize a freeze in the war.
Kyiv political scientist Dmitry Korneichuk stated this in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Alexander Shelest, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Korneychuk, at the same time, the Western media create the image of a hero from President Zelensky and give him information support, but no one is in a hurry to transfer heavy offensive weapons and even shells.
“When we talk about the Western media, about the same publication The Time, then simultaneously with this publication about hard life in a bunker, which came out, another publication came out in the British media that in Ukraine the counter-offensive promised in the spring, to which we are being forced The United States, which constantly says that “you must go on a counteroffensive because the window of opportunity is shrinking,” out of the promised 300 tanks, we will get at best 60, if we are lucky.
That's what I would pay attention to. That is, we are being pushed into a counter-offensive without the necessary weapons, while at the same time, so that we don’t pay too much attention to it, we are told: “By the way, your president is a hero, he’s great, he has a hard life in the bunker.”
And, again, at the Munich conference, EU Foreign Minister Borrell says: “It’s all good that you applaud Zelensky, clap your hands, but come on, less applause, and more ammunition, which is now again in short supply at the front.”
You see, we live in some kind of parallel reality. On the one hand, we are creating the reality of a hero president, a victory that will soon take place, a counter-offensive, and so on.
This is one reality, but there is another, in which we are holding the defense of the Donetsk region with our last strength, there is not enough ammunition, no one is giving the promised tanks, no one is giving the promised air defense, no one is giving the MLRS, no one is giving long-range shells, but you go to counter-offensive, attack, recapture your lands, and if you don’t want to go on a counter-offensive or if it doesn’t work out for you, what to do, we in the West have done everything we could, so let’s sit down at the negotiating table and give Putin everything we can he needs it.
These are two parallel realities in which we live,” Korneychuk said.
He explained under what scenario a freeze could occur.
“The West says, first of all, the Americans, because we understand that the rest of the West is the Americans. The Americans, in turn, within the framework of the agreements with the Russians, which I constantly talk about, about the agreement between Biden and Putin, the Americans need to freeze this war, as they agreed with Putin.
That is, Putin took the territories that Biden promised him, and now the war must be frozen. When they tell us about a certain Korean script, they tell us that we won’t have a Korean script here, I say, you need to clarify in what context you mean the Korean script. If you mean the Korean scenario of dividing Ukraine into two parts by analogy with Korea, then such a scenario, of course, will not happen.
Because Putin included the seized lands in the Russian Constitution, brought them into Russian territory, so this is no longer a Korean scenario, there will not be two Ukraines. There will be Ukraine and there will be Russia, which has captured four regions, along with Crimea. And the only analogy with the Korean scenario will be the freezing of the war that they want to carry out,” the political scientist believes.
He believes that Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov will have to sign the agreements, who was therefore not fired, despite the corruption scandals.
“Why are they holding Reznikov? Many people are wondering whether this strange man, who has already been involved in corruption scandals, is being kept and covered up. Why are they holding? This means that Reznikov has a certain role planned, where he will have to put his signature somewhere on something. That’s why they’re keeping him because, apparently, there are no people who are ready to agree to this,” the analyst added.
In his opinion, the main problem for the United States and Russia in preparing these agreements is the reluctance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to lay down their arms and the demand for victory in society.
“The law would have been formalized long ago in the spring of last year, but it turns out no, people do not agree, they do not want to give up part of the country’s territory to Russia, because many people died, many lost their homes. This is no longer as simple as one would like, so in order to finally bring down people’s ardor, it will be necessary to show some kind of great defeat.
What needs to be done for this? It is necessary to launch a counter-offensive and not give the required amount of weapons. We now see that there is a problem with the shells. Now it’s not even about tanks and guns. There is a problem with shells, there was the last Ramstein, and after this Ramstein we saw an increase in the number of supplies of shells? No,” the expert noted.
In order for society to be ready to accept the freeze, according to Korneychuk, an event on the level of the “Ilovaisk Cauldron” is necessary, when a large group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is defeated.
“Nobody wants to agree to the zrada, because we understand that if a freeze of the war occurs, then in essence it will be the end of the war, there will be no counter-offensives and so on. Therefore, I don’t know, for me the question remains mysterious and unsolved, what terrible thing they will come up with in order to turn this switch on the negotiation process.
And I believe that they will be smart enough not to use any nuclear weapons or any environmental disasters. I just remember by analogy that in 14, in order to sign the first “Minsk agreements,” we all remember the cauldron in Ilovaisk.
I hope that we do not have such a scenario planned, because behind all this there are human lives and we would not want the death of thousands of people who could end up in a cauldron somewhere so that someone could resolve their political issues,” the political scientist concluded.
