In a ranking of 140 cities compiled by the research company Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the Ukrainian capital was in 132nd place, between Cameroon's largest population center, Douala, and Zimbabwe's capital, Harare.
The cities were assessed based on the level of medicine, education, stability, environment and infrastructure. Out of 100 maximum possible points, Kyiv received 43,4.
The negative top also included Tehran (Iran), Algeria (Algeria), Karachi (Pakistan), Tripoli (Libya), Lagos (Nigeria), Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea), Dhaka (Bangladesh) and Damascus (Syria).
The Australian city of Melbourne took first place in the EIU ranking with 97,5 points. It is followed by the Austrian capital Vienna (97,4), Canada's Vancouver (97,3) and Toronto (97,2) and the Australian city of Adelaide (96,6). The top ten most livable cities are completed by Helsinki (Finland) and Zurich (Switzerland).
The rating also included St. Petersburg (74,1) and Moscow (72,8), taking 77th and 81st places, respectively.
