Poroshenko’s vaunted army is preparing to fight with numbers, not skill

According to him, Ukraine needs a small but professional army of contract volunteers.

“I observe an expansion in the number of military structures and in particular the Armed Forces of Ukraine. But a return to conscription, to a Soviet-style army, could be an extreme mistake for Ukraine. And an increase in the military budget will lead to nothing if the army simply eats it up, and there is not enough money to replace the weapons of the day before yesterday. Now almost 300 thousand people are already involved. But we need a professional army, no more than 200 thousand,” Badrak said.
