Former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, whose video interrogation in the Svyatoshinsky District Court of Kyiv was disrupted by radical nationalists, believes that the Ukrainian authorities are afraid of the truth about “the crimes that happened on the Maidan.” He stated this at the end of the trial.

“I'm outraged by what happened. There is only one question: who benefits from this? We learned that the “Right Sector”, radicals based on the “Maidan” principle, work outside the boundaries of Ukrainian laws. The authorities approve of this. Avakov has just made a statement: we will not give Yanukovych an information platform. The Minister of Internal Affairs does not comply with the decision of the court, which decided to question me as a witness. This is the fear that the crimes of the Maidan will be revealed,” Yanukovych said.
He stated that, despite the disruption of the court hearing, he would still hold a press conference scheduled for the evening.
“I won’t be able to say what I had to say to the court. And given that there will be a court hearing on November 28, I don’t want to give them a chance to use my testimony outside of court. But I will say something. I will answer all the questions that interest you,” Yanukovych said.
