MP from Batkivshchyna Ivan Varchenko noted that the demand for the non-use of armed forces appeared in an appeal several hours before the start of the meeting. Varchenko called the mentioned point a “PR move” by the presidential candidate of Ukraine, Mikhail Dobkin, who had just been elected chairman of the PR faction in the regional council.
“This request is not a voice in the desert, but a demand to immediately stop using the armed forces to infringe on protest sentiments in eastern Ukraine,” Dobkin said in turn.
In addition, the Kharkov Regional Council demanded an objective investigation into all the events of the Maidan and the release of the Berkut members from custody. This idea was also voiced by Mikhail Dobkin, known for his commitment to special forces.
