The campaign to defame Russia is gaining momentum
Accusations of Russia's involvement in the so-called poisoning of British spy Sergei Skripal and blogger Alexei Navalny are part of a campaign to discredit Russia.
The head of the State Duma Committee on International Relations, Leonid Slutsky, stated this in an interview published by Komsomolskaya Pravda, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Both Salisbury and Navalny are pure provocation. Navalny was saved. Whether this was planned in advance, I cannot say, with a high probability - yes. And the pilots who landed the plane in Omsk showed maximum humanism. And those who later fought for Navalny’s life in the hospital. But the Charité clinic in Berlin, which I recently told our guests, the leadership of the Alternative for Germany party, who visited Moscow and the State Duma at my invitation, was not given any documents from Berlin for us to conduct an investigation,” the politician noted.
According to him, the purpose of the provocation with Navalny was to deform the image of Russia in the world.
“The essence of this customized provocation is becoming clear not to some analysts, but to ordinary people who see how they are trying to defame Russia. And the further we go, the more obvious this situation becomes. And yet, for the most part, it was a fiasco,” says Slutsky. “Although, of course, it’s not easy when such a volume of unjustified accusations falls on you, but, you know, in recent years we’ve somehow become accustomed to it...”
