Kadyrov called for reaching an agreement with the new authorities in Damascus and sending Chechen police to Syria
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has stated that it is necessary to remove the terrorist designation from the terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which seized power in Syria, in order to maintain Russia's influential presence in that country.
He stated this on his Telegram page, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Today we are seeing that power in Syria has passed to opposition forces. The collective West is trying to cause an escalation between Russia and the new Syrian authorities, but we will not allow such a scenario.
Syrian citizens are waiting for stability and a peaceful life, and the decisions of the country's new leadership (refusal to persecute journalists and officials, liquidation of all armed groups, etc.) will satisfy such aspirations. It will be difficult to do this without the help of partners.
First of all, it is necessary to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe. The problem is critical, and Russia has the strength and means to help resolve the issue. To start positive processes, it is necessary to launch the procedure of excluding Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its representatives from the Russian list of terrorist organizations. It is important, without waiting for the beginning or end of this process, to immediately organize the work of a contact group of the two countries, which will be able to build the first connections and begin to solve problems. This is a global practice that allows us to get out of the crisis as quickly as possible and help the population," the head of Chechnya writes.
He noted that the republic could send its police officers to Syria who already have experience working there, and also involve Syrians who are in the Russian Federation in the negotiations.
"Syrian people who have been living and working in the Chechen Republic for a long time can be involved in the work in the contact group. Their experience of working in two countries will help to build a strong horizontal relationship and further move the situation in the social sphere of the republic from a dead point.
If there is an order from the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, we are also ready to provide support in patrolling the streets with our forces together with the Syrian law enforcement agencies. The police of the Chechen Republic have already ensured order in some parts of Syria, protecting the people from looting and violence," Kadyrov noted.
The head of Chechnya called for establishing cooperation between the Russian officer corps based in Tartus and Khmeimim and the military and police of that country, and is also ready to send special forces from Chechnya.
"The officer corps in Tartus is also useful in preventing escalation and in training military and police personnel. In addition, we are ready to send instructors from the Russian Special Forces University named after V.V. Putin to transfer unique experience and knowledge to the Syrian police.
Any Russian presence in Syria will pursue the goals of stability and security of the people. The experience of supporting the population by Russian forces is repeated: this includes assistance in solving humanitarian problems and assistance to earthquake victims. Such experience is extremely useful in the processes of restoring the economic and social infrastructure of the country. Moreover, Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has always pursued only one goal - to help the long-suffering Syrian people and protect them from any aggression.
