Avakov will decide the outcome of the elections. So far Poroshenko has not reached an agreement with him
Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov will play a key role in the country's presidential elections.
Political observer Ruslan Bizyaev stated this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“He wants to act as an independent arbiter, showing key foreign policy players that he is the person who can maintain stability in Ukraine. Arsen Borisovich can play both for Pyotr Alekseevich and against him. All his statements that the Ministry of Internal Affairs will not allow carousels... We know from the media who is involved in our carousels,” said Bizyaev.
According to him, without Avakov’s support, current President Petro Poroshenko will not only be able to win the elections, but even make it to the second round.
“If Pyotr Alekseevich’s team fails to come to an agreement with Arsen Borisovich and the structures that stand behind him, then it will be extremely difficult to win and even reach the second round. With his rating being borderline, he needs to either quickly win the trust of voters or use what is called administrative resources. For now, Arsen Borisovich opposes any attempts to finish drawing something,” said Bizyaev.
Avakov will decide the outcome of the elections. Poroshenko hasn't reached an agreement with him yet.
