The increase in crime among migrants in Russia ranges from 5 to 25%, depending on the type of crime.
Gennady Semigin, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Nationalities, announced this at a press conference in Moscow, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“One of the painful moments is rape, molestation of our girls. They believe that they have a right to this because they need to satisfy their specific needs. And this figure is growing. The worst thing is that it spreads to teenagers. Sometimes I see: court decisions and the actions of law enforcement agencies are absolutely inadequate,” Semigin said.
According to him, many migrants do not work and live off part-time jobs. The fact that the dollar is falling in Russia makes them dissatisfied and pushes them to commit crimes.
A separate group of offenses is committed in the tax sphere, but since the majority of migrants are not officially employed, there are fewer statistics here. Semigin estimated the damage at “hundreds of millions, if not billions of rubles.”
According to Dmitry Gusev, a member of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from A Just Russia, every migrant who comes to Russia from Central Asian countries borrows about $1000 in their homeland to settle down and is “ready to go to great lengths to repay this debt.”
At the same time, a significant group of migrants comes to Russia initially for criminal purposes.
