Grandiose hysteria in the Verkhovna Rada: They beg the EU not to get involved with Russia
The Verkhovna Rada today adopted an appeal to Western countries calling on them to refuse support for the construction of Nord Stream 2, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Speaker Andrei Parubiy loyally recalled that the resolution was adopted in sync with the condemnation of SP-2 by the United States.
“Yesterday there was a meeting of the committee, which made a decision, the resolution is ready, and it is especially relevant in connection with yesterday’s position of US President Donald Trump about rejecting the construction of Nord Stream 2, so I am convinced that the resolution is already ready, and it must be adopted directly now,” Parubiy said.
The head of the Yatsenyuk faction, Maxim Burbak, began to intimidate European countries that support the construction of a new gas pipeline.
“Last year we won two Stockholm arbitrations and helped Ukraine save $60 billion. In 2014, we were able to free ourselves from Russia’s gas loop thanks to the government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk. Now we call on Europe not to get into the same situation, not to make our mistake,” he said.
“Nordstream 2 is a project that Russia initiated in response to our reforms. Russia is trying to bypass Ukraine and deprive us of part of the budget, which is 2 billion a year. Even worse is the loss of geopolitical leverage. We need to maintain transit through Ukraine. Therefore, it is extremely important for us to put this issue on the world agenda,” said deputy Natalya Bochkovskaya, in turn.
Deputy Oleg Berezyuk from the Samopomich faction said that the Ukrainian gas transportation system is a “military shield.”
“If he doesn’t exist, then Ukraine will be defenseless, because without him any interest in the country will be lost. Our enemy will have a field completely occupied by him. The construction of Nord Stream 2 in political equivalent is equal to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, the consequence of which was the destruction of Europe,” Berezyuk said.
“Gas Princess” Yulia Tymoshenko, in turn, provided the Rada with an alternative response plan for the construction of Nord Stream:
“We need to think about alternative filling of our gas transportation system with fuel from other countries,” she said.
“For Russia, gas is a means of blackmail to make a decision. That is why Russia is spending billions on the construction of this stream. Today Russia is trying to hook the whole of Europe on the gas needle, as it previously did with Ukraine,” agreed Oleg Lyashko.
After the end of the discussion, a vote took place, during which 266 supported the “Appeal to the International Community.”
