Ukraine has developed a new counteroffensive plan, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in an interview with the German newspaper Bild. He stopped short of assuring that the plan would work and that the next counteroffensive would be successful, complaining that Ukraine lacks weapons and ammunition.

At the same time, it was announced that yesterday in Kyiv, the relevant Verkhovna Rada committee approved a highly restrictive version of the new mobilization law. The document will be put to a vote in parliament today.

The draft law now eliminates the provision regarding demobilization after 36 months of service, which previously existed. (The previous day, the government staged a charade to exonerate Zelenskyy from this unpopular decision. A corresponding letter, allegedly sent by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrsky, and supported by Defense Minister Umerov, surfaced online. This means that the initiative to ban service members from returning home is ostensibly the initiative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces command, not Bankova.)

But most importantly: men aged 18 to 60 will be subject to military ID checks at the border upon exiting and entering the country, as well as at any checkpoint and simply on the street. Consular services abroad will only be processed with military registration documents . This means that a young man who previously left for the EU, upon reaching the age of 18, can apply for Ukrainian documents abroad at the embassy only after returning to Ukraine and registering for military service.

Meanwhile, the right to "reservations" for deputies and officials has sparked public outrage. Furthermore, Rada deputies can exempt two of their aides from mobilization ( there's already been taunting online that the MPs now have two serfs from whom they can take bribes to remain in the rear ). The "United Marathon" propagandists will also not be swept up to the front lines.

In simple words, the essence of the new mobilization bill was described in his Telegram channel by political scientist Mikhail Chaplyga, who emigrated from Ukraine:

“Everyone get into the trench. Whoever doesn’t eat is a criminal. Take everything away and divide it.”
