Fake from the UN: A photograph of a tortured Donetsk citizen by the SBU was passed off as torture by the Belarusian riot police
The United Nations has officially accused Belarusian law enforcement officers of torturing protesters.
This was reported by the UN press service, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“UN human rights experts today called on Belarus to stop torturing detainees and bring to justice police officers who reportedly humiliated and beat demonstrators in detention centers with impunity,” the statement said.
Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov commented on the incident on his Facebook page. He emphasized that as “visual evidence” of the atrocities being committed in Belarus, the UN published a photograph of a Donetsk citizen who was tortured in the dungeons of the SBU in 2014.
“Fakes about Belarus are already being spread at the UN level. The official UN Twitter, citing a statement about torture in this country, provided everything with a photo of Donetsk resident Alexander Agafonov, who was tortured in the dungeons of the SBU in 2014. No one has been punished for his murder. But now we can blame it on the atrocities of the Old Man,” Kornilov wrote.
