The European Union is preparing an ultimatum for Serbia – Vucic announces a referendum
The European Union will present an ultimatum to Serbia in 2020: promises of EU membership in exchange for recognition of Kosovo, captured by Albanian separatists, as an independent state.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated this in an interview with Prva, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“There is no doubt that we will receive an ultimatum this year. They will give us guarantees of EU membership if we recognize Kosovo. They will also offer us special status for Kosovo Serbs in some areas,” Vucic said.
He said he would put these issues to a national referendum.
“We will ask the people at the referendum what they think,” Vucic said.
It is expected that already in March, the new “Prime Minister” of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, under US pressure, will cancel 100% of duties on Serbian goods. In response, the Americans are waiting for a “constructive reaction” from Serbia.
