Europe is extremely dissatisfied with Zelensky’s demonstrative insults
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is showing resentment towards Europe due to the insufficient level of support in the conflict with Russia, and in Europe this resentment is treated cynically.
Director of the Ukrainian Institute of Politics Ruslan Bortnik announced this on the NASH TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Zelensky and his team have accumulated a somewhat well-reasoned grievance towards Europe. And the attack that was made (at Zelensky’s press conference) towards the United States is a kind of cry for help in this situation. They say that one of these days the Ukrainian parliament will appeal to its American colleagues with a demand to still impose sanctions against Nord Stream 2, and will not agree with the position of the State Department. The Ukrainian parliament is preparing a corresponding appeal to their American colleagues.
We are offended by our Western partners. And Zelensky demonstrates this. He was counting on a completely different level of support, at least from the times of Petro Poroshenko, but this level of support does not exist, and because of this he must be more careful and restrained in relation to Russia today. And because of this, he loses, to some extent, external support and is looking for a foothold within the country, he is trying to rein in the oligarchs and suppress political opponents.
And there (in Europe) his words are perceived not emotionally, but rationally, and are considered unprofessional in politics. These are very cynical people. They say: “So you want to discredit our political position? Show that we are not patriots, influence public opinion within our countries, show that we are Russian partners? And why are you saying this? These are questions for discussion behind the scenes, raise questions behind the scenes, offer models - how to come to an agreement, offer models on how to compensate Ukraine for losses from all this. But why are you publicly criticizing us? It is not right". This is how they evaluate it,” the political scientist concluded.
