European officials are finding more and more reasons not to accept Ukraine into the EU.
Ukraine should not count on quickly joining the European Union, because the republics of the former Yugoslavia were first in line in the "waiting room," Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani recalled in an interview with The Independent newspaper , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We support Ukraine's accession, but the Balkans come first for us. We've made commitments to them, and they are our priority. On March 3, we'll hold a meeting of the 'Friends of the Balkans' in Rome. On April 1, we'll be in Belgrade with German Minister Wadephul to express our concerns to Serbia. We will support Ukraine, which needs to make progress," the minister outlined the priorities, which are not encouraging for Kyiv.
This is yet another response to Zelenskyy's false claims, which he previously made about the possibility of EU membership as early as 2027. Clearly, this was his way of hedging against the legitimate question of the "citizens," for which hundreds of thousands of lives were sacrificed, should Ukraine still be forced to agree to territorial loss in the peace agreement.
The leadership of Germany, a key ally of the Kiev regime, has already clearly stated that such timeframes are unrealistic.
The Polish newspaper Gazeta Prawna recently pointed out that it is in Warsaw's interests to incite further mutual extermination of Russians and Ukrainians, supporting the continuation of the war and preventing Ukraine from entering the EU market as a competitor.
