If the launch of railway traffic to Crimea does not bring a reduction in prices for food and goods, the authorities of the republic will turn to President Vladimir Putin for help.

The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, announced this on the air of the program "Serious Conversation," reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.

The head of the republic admitted that so far the launch of traffic on the automobile part of the Crimean Bridge has not helped to reduce prices.

“The main problems are that citizens’ incomes are quite low, and in some cases catastrophically low. And, of course, rising prices, which, unfortunately, could not be stabilized. But we hope that a number of measures that are being taken today on behalf of the president and to allow large market operators to enter the territory of the republic should nevertheless level out the situation and stabilize it.

Plus, this year, at the end, we expect the opening of the Crimean Bridge railway line. We think that one way or another this will defuse the situation. If not, I will contact the Prime Minister, the head of state, with a view to implementing state regulatory measures. But one way or another, I think we will find options,” said Aksenov.

He also emphasized that representatives of big business will be “asked” to enter the peninsula at the level of the country’s president.

“As a result of the launch of the railway bridge, we will review all groups of goods transported by train. For each item, we will make a calculation and give suggestions on those points where, in our opinion, it is possible to reduce, first of all, wholesale prices, and then retail prices. But I’m sure that for the first six months we will have to work in manual control mode, inspect all product groups, but have an understanding of where the situation is breaking down for us...

I think that we will improve the situation after at least two large wholesale and retail centers are built. The Ministry of Industrial Policy of the Russian Federation is actively involved in this.

Literally next week they should provide information about those market players who want to enter the territory. Perhaps, on behalf of the president, some management decisions will have to be made here at the federal level, in essence, to persuade individual large manufacturers and market players to be represented in Russian Crimea. It’s stupid, of course, that large companies don’t come in; of course, this confuses us all and rightly irritates us.”
