The EU refused to impose sanctions against Russia that were demanded in Ukraine
The European Union will limit itself to fairly modest sanctions against Russia for the arrest of Ukrainian Navy sailors after an attempt to break through the Russian border near the Kerch Strait, the Kommersant newspaper writes today.
“...The meeting of the foreign ministers of the EU member states that took place on Monday in Brussels showed that the new restrictive measures will be relatively modest. Instead of introducing additional economic sanctions, it was decided to expand the list of Russian citizens who are prohibited from entering the EU,” the publication says.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported, citing sources: eight Russians will be included in the list, they will be banned from entering the EU, and their accounts and property in EU countries, if any, will be frozen.
