Ukraine needs to lower its demands while there is still a theoretical possibility of concluding a peace agreement.

Former US government adviser Bijan Kian stated this on the Al Arabiya English television channel , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"Instead of saying, 'No, I want Crimea back, I want Donetsk back, I want Donbas back,' I don't think President Putin can say, 'We've suffered all these losses and gained nothing.' So everyone needs to lower expectations to a minimum so that we can end the war while we can," Kian said.

Regarding other territories, the loss of which Ukraine does not want to acknowledge, the American advises a more cunning approach – offering them a “demilitarized” status.

" We need to think about what they can give up and move on. For example, simply agree to demilitarization, remain in the demilitarized zone, and then, instead of making concessions, simply buy time and accept the demilitarized zones," advises Kian.
