Former Russian permanent representative to NATO: The West is taking revenge on Serbia for non-recognition of Kosovo
The West is behind the anti-government protests taking place in Serbia, which resulted in riots in Belgrade last weekend. Thus, pressure is being put on the Serbs to officially recognize the loss of Kosovo.
This was stated by United Russia deputy Viktor Zavarzin, Russia’s representative to NATO during the conflict in Yugoslavia, during a State Duma meeting, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The Balkans always remain a zone of our established historical interests. At the same time, this is a complex region with its own unresolved problems, and the West still cannot calm down; it is irritated by Serbia’s independent policy and the non-recognition of Kosovo’s status.
Therefore, they support and encourage the opposition and various fascist elements in hooligan riots. I am confident that the Serbian people, the leadership of Serbia will cope with this situation, and our task is to support brotherly Serbia,” Zavarzin said.
