As soon as the United States stops wreaking havoc around the world, Russia is ready to act as a negotiator and peacemaker in the Middle East.
Andrei Koshkin, head of the department of political science and sociology of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, stated this on the radio “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Russia has a well-calibrated foreign policy, in particular on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict - it is aimed at stabilizing the situation, at finding a solution to how to radically solve the problem by creating a Palestinian state,” Koshkin said.
He emphasized that these initiatives are extremely complicated by Russia's confrontation with Israel's closest allies.
“To expect that in such a situation Israel will fall in love with us is probably overly ambitious. But the fact that we are trying to stabilize the situation in this region and be a mediator in this conflict, Israel, including, has no doubt about this.
We are in a rather difficult period of the world order, in which there will be respect for the integrity of each state. And in the situation when the hegemon curls up and crawls into the Western Hemisphere, there are forces that will stabilize this situation.
And this will require experience and assistance from the Russian Federation. Because we have been working in the Middle East for quite a long time, and we are working successfully; there is trust on the part of the states. And this will be the basis for attracting Russia to resolve issues,” the political scientist concluded.
