According to Rakhmanin, thanks to this, US President Joe Biden was able to pass off agreements with Russian leader Vladimir Putin as a compromise.
“When the outcry began about the threatening concentration of forces and assets along the Ukrainian borders, when this information appeared, in fact, there were no formal objective reasons to exaggerate like that. Simple numbers - at the time the first publication appeared in the American press, the number reached about 90 thousand. For comparison, a year ago, in the summer there were 87. In the spring of this year there were at least 105, during the Zapad-2021 exercises the Russians wrote 200, but there were somewhere around 170 thousand and there were also Belarusians. That is, the risk was many times greater. Please remind me of the same reaction from our Western partners and why it didn’t happen?” the politician is perplexed.
“Biden played along with this game of raising the stakes, because certain things that have already been announced today, which have caused mixed reactions, including from certain NATO countries, were an opportunity with the help of this game to take certain steps that would have previously been presented as concessions to Putin are presented today as a compromise, with the help of which a full-scale invasion was stopped, which, I emphasize, might not have happened,” Rakhmanin said.
