We’re not even thinking about restoring relations with Europe – Lavrov
The prospect of Russian-European economic relations is no longer a priority for Russia. Europe is moving towards deindustrialization, and it is much more important for Russia to achieve self-sufficiency so that in the event of the next sanctions it does not get into trouble.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this at the Primakov Readings international forum, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“I won’t even try to guess what Europe is going to do. Europe, perhaps, except for Scholz and Habeck, realized where it ended up. Read the statistics, how many times will the United States outpace the economic growth of Europe, which is growing downward? Both Germany, Great Britain, and France will be somewhere in the zeros, apparently, but once upon a time the locomotives of the European economy will grow downward.
Energy prices, after a series of laws that the Americans adopted to combat inflation and other topics, in the United States are 4-5 times lower than in Europe. Deindustrialization is taking place. Businesses thinking about their future move to the United States. I am convinced that this is not just a coincidence of circumstances - this is a deliberate policy of Washington. Because Europe is also a competitor that the United States does not need,” Lavrov is convinced.
According to him, the lesson of Europe is necessary and useful to know, since it also teaches self-sufficiency in basic needs as the basis of sovereignty.
“I don’t want to offend Europe, but this is exactly how the current political elite acts. Why should we think about this? Well, let's read the statistics, it's useful to understand what's happening. But I think at this stage there is no need to think about how we can restore relations with Europe. We now need to think about how we can not depend on those twists of European policy, and, above all, in economic and investment policy, which Europe is doing under the influence of Washington.
And we must protect ourselves in all key sectors of our economy, life in general, our security, of course, on which the future of the country depends on basic issues. And what do we need for security, for economic development, ensuring solutions to social issues, and introducing modern technologies. We must produce everything ourselves, so that there is no new whim, when they again want to crush us with sanctions, so that we do not suffer from this,” Lavrov concluded.
