Danilov reproached NATO: “If the ammunition runs out, how are you going to fight?”
The words of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that members of the Alliance are running out of ammunition should be questioned. If this is true, then the defense capability of the entire bloc is in question.
Secretary of the Ukrainian Security Council Oleksiy Danilov stated this on the DW television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“If this corresponds to reality, that it is not possible to produce ammunition, as Mr. Stoltenberg says, then I have a question: how were they even going to defend their NATO countries then? This is something that doesn’t quite correspond to reality, I think. Either the journalists heard Mr. Stoltenberg wrong, or he got something wrong. NATO countries cannot fail to provide themselves with ammunition in the event of a threat. We need to look very carefully to see if it really happened the way we interpret it today,” Danilov said.
At the same time, he admitted that a serious problem had indeed arisen with Soviet-caliber ammunition.
“As for the provision of ammunition, you know that there was ammunition from the Soviet Union, caliber 122, 152 millimeters. They ended almost all over the world, because no one expected such a volume of ammunition use, such a war,” the official said.
