NATO members differ from Ukraine in that they do not have Crimea
NATO membership is a topic not of Ukraine’s foreign, but of domestic policy, which will be promoted in the upcoming elections.
This was stated by the director of the Institute of Political Analysis and International Studies, Sergei Tolstov, at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Ukraine is a very poor country to engage in self-deception. Moreover, to elevate self-deception to the basis of foreign policy and foreign policy propaganda. Therefore, both in relation to the Atlantic perspective and in relation to the European perspective, we need to understand what we want: truth, clarity, logic and understanding, or do we want to allow people in power to deceive us in order to cause an outburst of emotions and a certain electoral behavior,” said Tolstov.
He also believes that NATO promises security only to those countries that are already members of the Alliance.
“NATO plays a certain role as a security factor. It is no coincidence that Stoltenberg boasts in his statement: “Understand, poor people, that in no NATO country such dirty tricks as the annexation of Crimea are impossible.” This, of course, sounds very comforting to the European public in NATO member countries. But these formulations do not apply to us in any way. Otherwise, why did Stoltenberg need to cite the annexation of Crimea as an example, showing the difference between a member and a non-member?
