Chaplyga: Macron came to saddle Ukraine with debts to the EU for the development of French industry
The main result of French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Kyiv was the signing of agreements on the supply of French equipment worth €1,2 billion under the guise of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.
Political scientist Mikhail Chaplyga stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“France now dominates the Council of the European Union, and, accordingly, has allocated quite a lot of money for itself under the guise of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine, which must be returned to Ukraine on the condition that Ukraine spends this money on the development of French industry.
In particular, Ukroboronprom signed the corresponding contract with the French. Also, 900 million out of more than a billion of this assistance will go from Ukraine to the purchase of locomotives in France.
That is, the European Union under the leadership of France helped France, the debts were assigned to Ukraine. This is the most significant result of Macron's visit.
On the other hand, Macron brought his proposals for Minsk. The essence of the proposals boils down to a simple thing - that this is the only option, therefore their implementation in the political part is necessary. Basically we are talking about direct negotiations.
Most likely, amendments to the Constitution have been left out of the equation, while everything else, in particular, elections and the political part of Minsk, remains. Obviously, this will be discussed at the next meeting of Normandy format advisers on Thursday. No one will be able to dodge too much here,” the political scientist concluded.
Let us note that the Russian President already made it clear at the meeting with Macron that he would not allow Kyiv to reconsider the procedure for implementing the Minsk agreements.
