“I would like to note that at that time there was chronic underfunding of Crimea by the Kyiv authorities. This applies to the economy, agriculture, and social sphere. When Crimea became part of Russia, banks stopped fulfilling financial obligations to their depositors; payments were made at the expense of the Russian state. Energy, water, transport and food blockades were organized against the Crimeans. The cost of our claims is very high. The damage caused to Crimea is colossal - hundreds of billions of dollars. I am convinced that the time will come and we will present this to Ukraine,” Konstantinov said, without specifying what exactly the mechanism for forcing Kyiv to make payments will be.

The speaker’s words were skeptically commented by Crimean social activist Alexander Talipov, recalling that many of the current leaders of the republic held high positions in Ukrainian times, and demonstrated loyalty to Kyiv - they condemned the “separatism” of pro-Russian organizations.

Moreover, in Ukrainian times there were also the reigns of construction companies that circumvented prohibitions and built profitable real estate properties in historical places and environmental protection zones of Crimea.
