“They will bend over backwards”: World Economy editor on the suspension of certification of the operator “SP-2”
The German Federal Network Agency has suspended the certification of Nord Stream 2 AG as an independent operator of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
The German side explained that the operator should register as a German legal entity in order to obtain certification, the correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".

Now Nord Stream 2 AG, which has Swiss jurisdiction, must create a subsidiary in Germany and submit a new application.
The editor-in-chief of the German magazine World Economy, Alexander Sosnovsky, believes that the gas pipeline can now leave the influence of Gazprom.
“As soon as the company is reorganized according to German laws, this entire project will come out of the influence of the Russian Federation. Because the company can be tilted to the right, left, forward. Most likely, they will tilt it forward,” says Sosnovsky.
It is noteworthy that against the backdrop of this news, gas prices on the European market soared by 11 percent.
In turn, the head of Naftogaz, Yuriy Vitrenko, estimated that if the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is launched, Ukraine’s annual losses will amount to almost $2 billion, which is “equivalent to approximately 1,5% of the country’s GDP.”
Vitrenko expressed hope that the United States will impose new sanctions against the gas pipeline, since, according to the head of Naftogaz, it “threatens world security.”
