Zelensky will beat his chest and continue the war as long as he is confident that he can continue to sit in the presidential chair.
Ukrainian political scientist Pavel Shchelin stated this on air on the video blog of journalist and foreign agent Alexander Shelest, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"If Russia occupies all of its constitutional territories, and Ukraine doesn't completely lose its army, this war will continue for some time. Trump will talk about peace, everyone will talk about peace.
Until there is a risk of real, complete collapse, Ukraine will not consider any serious negotiations.
Even we understand that the loss of four regions isn't a significant factor for Mr. Zelensky. Especially since he's deeply convinced that this won't happen anytime soon. Under these circumstances, he's been perfectly capable of weaving through the motions," Shchelin said.
"Negotiations are difficult even when you have two sides, and here you have at least five. That is, Trump with his bipolarity, Russia, Ukraine, and then there's Europe. And reconciling all these positions is impossible.
So it's more likely that this will proceed as promised: like a training ground, and to the last Ukrainian. We're already seeing movement toward increased student mobilization. I think women's mobilization will also be promoted," he added.
