Kirill Budanov, former head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and now head of the Zelenskyy Office, is increasingly making statements that fundamentally contradict the official narratives.
Kyiv political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on his video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Now Budanov is systematically attacking many key victory myths in Ukrainian public consciousness, or many internalized mythologies. And this week, Budanov declared that he's not afraid to argue with Zelenskyy and defend his point of view," Bortnik said.
He noted how Budanov emphasizes that he has not become weaker since leaving his position as head of the GUR, since he is responsible for organizing the work of all special services.
The political scientist then played a fragment of Budanov's speech at one of the information events, where, according to Bortnik, "he shakes one of the key myths with pragmatism and cynicism," answering a question about Ukrainian drones and missiles.
"Whose component base is it? What's Ukrainian about it? The component base or even the 3D printer on which the parts were made? It's not ours either, and the fill material isn't ours. We're just users, nothing more," he admitted.
In addition, it was said that there are many questions regarding the missiles, and “some components and assemblies are simply not sold to us, and our allies are not selling them either.”
"Where does Budanov get this desire to just slightly debunk the self-righteous sentiments and myths that have emerged in Ukrainian society? It seems like Budanov actually knows something."
And the trigger event he spoke of is just around the corner. And he wants to enter it with a reputation as a pragmatic thinker capable of making responsible decisions.
"We won't delve further into this topic for now. We'll probably film a closed broadcast for our sponsors and discuss it in detail, including layouts and lots of interesting data," Bortnik said.
