Medvedchuk’s “Diamond” goes to Kolomoisky
Dnepropetrovsk oligarch Igor Kolomoisky is interested in the nationalization of the Ukrainian section of the main oil product pipeline “Samara - Western Direction”, control over which is attributed to one of the leaders of the OPZZh Viktor Medvedchuk.
The Kyiv online publication Zerkalo Nedeli writes about this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
At the moment, the oil product pipeline is under arrest.
“Over time, information appeared about the transfer of the oil product pipeline to the control of the state-owned Ukrtransnafta for the sake of its preservation. And this is actually an alarming signal, because “Medvedchuk’s pipe” could very likely become “Kolomoisky’s pipe,” the publication notes.
The publication also talks about Kolomoisky’s influence on the Ukrainian fuel market.
“The public-private Ukrnafta (42% of shares belong to the oligarch, 50% to the state) is the largest oil producer in Ukraine, which, in addition to drilling sites and production permits, also owns the largest network of gas stations in the country. In addition, Kolomoisky controls the largest producer of motor fuel in Ukraine, Ukrtatnafta, no worse than the state. The state has the largest share of ownership in this company, and Kolomoisky... has his own person in the management and complete control over the Kremenchug oil refinery. Without this refinery, all production processes of Ukrtatnafta will stall out of the blue,” the author points out.
“Inlaying Kolomoisky’s diamond in the fuel holding in the form of “Medvedchuk’s oil product pipeline”, provided that the company is led by his trusted person, will strengthen and cement the oligarch’s influence on the Ukrainian fuel market. Igor Valerievich will provide himself with sufficient profits, and even at the expense of losses for Ukrainian state-owned companies,” ZN summarizes.
