The fight against corruption has brought first fruits - the average bribe size has increased in Ukraine

In Ukraine, the average cost of a bribe has increased as part of an anti-corruption campaign.

This year, the total amount of bribes has already amounted to 3,6 million hryvnia, and the average amount of unlawful benefit increased by 9 thousand UAH and amounted to 31 thousand UAH, the publication reports.

At the same time, for the first five months of this year, under Art. 369 and 369-2 received sentences for 113 people. This is 81 sentences or 3,5 times more than in the same period last year, when 34 people received sentences.

Also this year, the area that has become a leader in anti-corruption verdicts has also changed. If last year during the specified period such a region was Donetsk (5 sentences), then over the 5 months of this year the Kharkov region became the leader - 13 sentences.

At the same time, since the beginning of 2017, not a single sentence has been passed under these articles in the Kyiv, Zhytomyr and Kherson regions.

The total amount of bribes, the provision or receipt of which was proven by the court, for 5 months of last year amounted to UAH 704,8 thousand. The average bribe received was 22 thousand hryvnia.
