Blitzkrieg of the West in the Moldavian direction
The West does not hide that it is trying to establish total control over Moldova and turn it into a member of the anti-Russian bloc.
The executive director of the Moldovan branch of the Izborsk Club, a political analyst in the Socialist Party, Vladimir Bukarsky, writes about this in an author’s column for PolitNavigator.

NATO and FBI engaged in Moldova
The Western bloc continues to make desperate efforts to push Russia out of the Black Sea-Balkan region and return Moldova to the anaconda ring as the missing link. On May 11, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, speaking at the Bucharest Format summit (which includes nine Eastern European NATO member countries), said that the countries of NATO’s “eastern flank” must consolidate efforts to contain Russian aggression. According to him, threats from Russia will be actively considered at the NATO summit, which will take place on June 14 this year in Brussels.
Two days later, on March 13, the American newspaper National Review published an article by the famous American Republican hawk, former National Security Advisor to the President of the United States John Bolton, entitled “How Biden can beat Putin.” Among other things, the author proposes to “unfreeze the Transnistrian conflict” (in other words, to resume the war on the Dniester). Bolton believes that the “supposedly independent Transnistria invented by Russia” exists separately from Moldova only thanks to Moscow’s continued military presence.
“Simply drawing global attention to this post-Cold War anomaly would shake the Kremlin, and the decisive new government in Chisinau now gives Washington the opportunity to step up its efforts,” writes the American strategist.
The next day, May 14, Lithuanian President Gintaras Nausėda arrived in Chisinau on a visit. During his meeting with Sandu, he called on Moldova to strengthen cooperation with NATO and to use the Lithuanian embassy in the country, which also acts as the “liaison embassy” of the North Atlantic Alliance. This is a clear hint to the Moldovan authorities: its path to the European Union lies through NATO.
American intelligence services also joined in control over Moldova. FBI Legal Attaché at the US Embassy in Bucharest Monica Vasievich and employees of the US Embassy in Chisinau met with the head of the General Inspectorate of Police, Sergio Payu. He noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova is ready for any form of cooperation with the FBI.
“Associated Trio”: repeating what has been covered
On May 17, another attempt was made in Kyiv to revive the anti-Russian bloc in the CIS. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova Dmitry Kuleba, David Zalkaliani and Aureliu Ciocoi (the interim head of the government of Moldova) signed a trilateral memorandum on the beginning of enhanced cooperation on European integration issues, which they called the “Associated Trio”.

“This is our message that there is no alternative to European integration for our three partner countries, and there is no alternative for Europe either, because they must perceive our three countries as a serious project to ensure peace and prosperity in Europe,” the head said Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
The action of the Moldovan acting Prime Minister to sign the “Associated Trio” memorandum was criticized by the ex-President of Moldova, leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon, in whose administration Aureliu Ciocoi served as foreign policy adviser.
“This is a very dangerous document,” Dodon said on the NTV-Moldova TV channel. According to Dodon, he asked his former subordinate: “What were you doing there, who authorized you? Who needs this joint declaration of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia?” Dodon noted that he understands Ukraine and Georgia, who want to join NATO. “Where is Moldova going? We have nothing to do, we don’t have our own problems? We have an unresolved Transnistrian problem, and they are signing something against someone,” said Igor Dodon.
According to the socialist leader, the memorandum must be annulled.
On May 18, another scandalous statement was made by the US Ambassador to Moldova Derek Hogan, speaking at the State University. He repeated almost verbatim the words of the John Bolton we mentioned: “Transnistria must be returned under the administrative control of the Moldovan authorities.” According to the US Ambassador, the return of Transnistria to Moldova is hampered by “multiple approaches” and “lack of a consolidated position” on the right bank of the Dniester.
“We need to formulate a unified strategy,” Hogan said. This statement by the American ambassador, who is called the true owner of Moldova, can be considered as a green light to political repression.
As if ordered, a provocation followed in the Security Zone in Transnistria. According to the statement of the Pridnestrovian delegation to the Joint Control Commission, unknown persons who arrived from Moldova fired at the car of a Pridnestrovian border guard with a gun. Representatives of Moldova in the JCC stated that they did not have any information about this. The Moldovan delegation ignored the request of the Pridnestrovian delegation to investigate the incident.
European diaspora as an assault force
Control over parliament and government is the very little thing that is missing to completely integrate Moldova into the anti-Russian alliance. It was for this that the West needed the organization of early parliamentary elections, in which Maia Sandu’s “Action and Solidarity” party should win a complete victory and form a coalition majority - independently (ideal option) or in a coalition with the bloc of the mayor of Balti, Renato Usatii.
In these elections, Sandu and her party have a significant head start over all their competitors. She is practically guaranteed full support in the European diaspora of Moldovans, who have turned into an assault force of the pro-Western orientation of Moldova. At the moment, according to the Central Election Commission of Moldova, more than 80 thousand Moldovan citizens living abroad are registered to vote in the elections. Most of the registered Moldovans in the diaspora live in European countries: Italy (about 17 thousand), Great Britain (about 13 thousand), Germany (more than 10 thousand), France (about 7 thousand) and other countries. Currently, only 6800 Moldovan citizens have registered on the territory of the Russian Federation.
The overt pressure of the US and EU ambassadors on the government authorities of Moldova - the Information and Security Service, the Central Election Commission, the Prosecutor General's Office - once again received a reaction from Russia. On May 21, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, again called on Washington and Brussels not to interfere in the affairs of Moldova: “We are forced to once again state that as the date of early parliamentary elections in the republic approaches, aggressive rhetoric among Western representatives is only gaining momentum.”
Zakharova particularly reacted to the speech of the head of the EU delegation to Moldova, Peter Mihalko, who allowed himself inappropriate criticism of the country's government authorities. The diplomat added that Russia, for its part, “stands for the development of truly equal, friendly relations with the Republic of Moldova,” which should be based on the “principles of non-interference in internal affairs, respect for the Moldovan people and readiness for dialogue with government institutions.”

Ex-President Igor Dodon also expressed his dissatisfaction with the activities of Western ambassadors. “We ourselves must maintain order in our country. And when some ambassadors on television express concern that citizens will not vote as they want, in any other country such declarations would be punished. It is a pity that in Moldova such behavior is still tolerated. The ambassador should not tell a citizen of Moldova what to do and how to vote, or with whom to enter into a coalition or create a government. This is up to the citizens of the country to decide through democratic elections.”
However, not everything is going perfectly smoothly for Maia Sandu’s party, as she and her curators would like. TV journalist Nata Albot, a personal friend of Maia Sandu, living in Canada and included in the list of the Action and Solidarity party in 8th place, was forced to refuse to participate in the elections after it became known that several years ago she was detained at the Chisinau airport with dose of marijuana. This news came as a bolt from the blue for the Moldovan political class, and the name “Nata Albot” became a meme.
Moreover, according to Albot, the “weed” ended up in her pocket after a party in the Propaganda cafe, owned by her colleague, the no less scandalous Natalya Morar, who was deported from Russia in 2008 and a year later became the main character of the “tile revolution" in the center of Chisinau.
At the same time, the left forces of Moldova are emerging from their stupor after the presidential elections and a series of defeats in the Constitutional Court. More and more representatives of local authorities are speaking out in support of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists, or, as it is called, the “bloc of two presidents,” especially in the northern and southern regions of Moldova. Even those Moldovans who strive to join the European Union and acquire Romanian or Bulgarian citizenship for this purpose are rejected by such an open campaign to establish control over the country. The Western blitzkrieg in the Moldovan direction may end in failure.
