Biletsky launched activities with an eye to the parliamentary elections
It is no coincidence that the militants of the “National Corps” launched activity against Petro Poroshenko - the leader of the group, Andrei Biletsky, is trying to popularize his movement with an eye to the autumn elections to the Verkhovna Rada.
Kiev political scientist Vladimir Fesenko said this on air on the PolitekA channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is a version, quite simplified, that Avakov is behind all this. The fact that there are connections between Avakov and Biletsky is, in principle, understandable. Today Biletsky denied that Avakov was behind these actions. For Avakov, I think the situation here is contradictory - on the one hand, it is beneficial for him to scare the president with such direct actions, on the other hand, when police officers are beaten, this is already a challenge to Avakov himself, and relations between radicals, no matter “National Druzhina” or C14, are always problem. So for Avakov this is a definite conflict of interest, and I don’t think that he is interested in these clashes being permanent,” the expert said.
“Biletsky himself and the National Corps are more interested here.” I think there are parliamentary elections in the fall, and the National Corps wants to raise its rating - it is very noticeable on the street. In this way they want to increase their popularity, they want to now find themselves at the forefront of the war with Poroshenko,” Fesenko believes.
