Ukraine does not have an effective sanctions policy against Russia, in particular due to corruption in government agencies, which allows everyone to avoid sanctions.
This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by propagandist Valentina Samar, who fled Crimea and continues to successfully utilize Western grants aimed at countering Russia, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The Ukrainian authorities that are involved in sanctions policy work like a kiosk, “exempting” those who would not want to come to them. Thus, assets that belonged to Russian oligarchs and influential people, which would have been blocked in the West, were removed from the Ukrainian economy. They were allowed to be sold. For example, this is the Nikolaev Alumina Refinery, which belongs to Deripaska,” Samar said.
She also noted that the Ukrainian sanctions policy also has such shortcomings as lack of synchronization with partner sanctions (USA), lack of a single sanctions list, and lack of sectoral sanctions.
According to Samar, in order to adopt an effective policy, it is necessary to repeal the law on the free economic zone in Crimea and create a special body to conduct sanctions policy.
