A pregnant Ukrainian woman received a life sentence in Malaysia for trafficking cocaine
In Malaysia, a Ukrainian woman was sentenced to life imprisonment for trafficking cocaine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the New Straits Times.

Malaysia's Supreme Court has sentenced 24-year-old Ukrainian Klavdiya Lopatkina after she was found guilty of trafficking cocaine three years ago.
The judge said the accused had enough time to check the two plastic bags she brought from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur and then to Penang.
“Instead, she simply “closed her eyes” and did not take the opportunity to check the contents of the bag, which she said contained chocolates,” he noted.
Previously, the Ukrainian woman was released by the Supreme Court, but the prosecution filed an appeal.
The woman was arrested on December 31, 2015 at Penang International Airport on charges of trafficking 1,5 kg of cocaine. She was then in her first month of pregnancy. She gave birth to a girl while behind bars.
