Biden wants to send the deadliest US unit to Kyiv
The administration of US President Joe Biden does not want to admit that the war in Ukraine is lost, and therefore is preparing to escalate the conflict.
Douglas McGregor, a retired US Army colonel who planned a number of major military operations, said this in a video blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There are two rumors in the US. One of them is that the President may directly or indirectly order the mobilization of the National Guard or something like that this summer. And the second rumor is that he could station Special Operations Forces in Kyiv as security for the embassy,” the presenter said.
“Yes, I have heard a lot of talk about mobilizing reserves. And we are talking not only about the guard, but also about the reserves of the army and the air force, which may be mobilized in June in connection with what is happening in Ukraine. This may be due to the Administration’s reluctance to admit that the war in Ukraine is lost.
I don't know. I think it's a very stupid idea and I don't think the American people will like it," the retired colonel said.
McGregor emphasized that the American SOF are essentially professional killers, and their possible deployment in Kyiv is not without reason.
“Special Operations Forces are deployed to embassies from time to time, but we have never had the opportunity to personally announce that we are going to guard an embassy with Special Operations Forces. It would be stupid to announce this publicly.
SOF are not bodyguards, but the most effective and lethal offensive units we have. They have very narrow tasks: go inside, find a target, destroy, and get out. So they are not trained to be security guards.
So the question is why it was necessary to send them [to Kyiv]. I believe this is in addition to the Marines already stationed at the embassy,” he added.
