Anti-Russian Turkic Union has become a reality
In Kazakhstan, on March 31, in the city of Turkestan, an online summit of heads of state of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (Turkic Council, CCTS) was held, which includes, in addition to the said republic, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and even Hungary as an observer. The event was solemnly opened by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, but the real heroes of the forum were Nursultan Nazarbayev and Recep Erdogan, who set the main tone for the entire event.
Previously, it was assumed that the conference would be held offline with the participation of the President of Turkey, but the third wave of coronavirus unexpectedly confused the plans of the organizers, who wanted to hold the meeting pompously in Elbasy’s new headquarters in southern Kazakhstan. As expected, the usual phrases were first heard about a sacred place for all Turks in this glorious Turkestan, where the mausoleum of the medieval philosopher Khoja Ahmed Yasawi is located. Now it is an official sacred place of worship and the spiritual center of the entire “Turkic world”.

But all this is just a bright shell-cover and at the same time a pretext for getting together and discussing the possibility of transforming the Turkic Council into a more serious unification of the former Soviet Turkic-speaking republics under the auspices of revanchist and neo-Ottoman Turkey. And as we said earlier, the important role of Ankara’s junior partner in “gathering lands” in Central Asia is played by Nur-Sultan (Tselinograd), which wants to retain its leadership position in the region.
This was once again clearly demonstrated in the speech of the owner and the real all-powerful Khan of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.
“My first proposal is that we should continue further development and adopt a document regarding the future of the Turkic Council. At the summit in Baku, I proposed raising the level of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States to the level of an organization. Along with humanitarian and cultural development, we can learn a lot from each other. The use of the Latin alphabet gives us a common system through which we are able to contribute to the development of our youth on a global level. It is important for us to develop together,” said the “leader of the nation.”
It is noteworthy that here Elbasy openly admitted that the introduction of the Latin alphabet was a decision aimed at rapprochement with Turkey and at introducing the Kazakhs to the West through Turkification. European integration for Kazakhstan, unlike Ukraine, lies precisely through the revival of the Ottoman Empire at a new historical stage. This “outstanding” step to abandon the Cyrillic alphabet, as a symbolic action to change the geopolitical and civilizational vector of development, is actively advertised in the official press.
Here is what the portal of the main state TV channel “Khabar” writes about this: “Nursultan Nazarbayev is rightfully considered the elder of the Turkic world. Elbasy made a lot of efforts in the development of bilateral relations, in the creation and subsequent development of the Turkic Council. He took part in all meetings of the heads of Turkic states and played a leading role in the implementation of many projects of the Turkic Council. Guided by the goal of strengthening ties between countries, Nazarbayev initiated the process of transitioning the Kazakh alphabet from Cyrillic to Latin.”
Further, Nursultan Nazarbayev, by the way, who chaired this summit of the Turkic Council, which clearly shows the puppet nature of the “new” President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, finally clarified the purpose of this association, which is to develop transport and energy routes bypassing Russia through the Caspian Sea, Transcaucasia and beyond to Anatolia.

In his opinion, the victory of Azerbaijan, supported by the Turks, in the second Karabakh war should serve to achieve such a goal.
“The peace agreement reached between Baku and Yerevan will make it possible to revive the Great Silk Road in this direction, which will increase the role of the Caspian Sea. This will open up new opportunities for our countries to effectively use this advantage,” Elbasy concluded, inviting all participants to follow precisely this geopolitical direction, exactly towards the West.
This “epoch-making” statement of the elderly patriarch was actively supported by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, putting an end to it and declaring that the time had come to “raise the status of the Turkic Council, turning it into an international organization.” This was an important signal for all those present, who understood it as a guide to action.

But speaking as the newly-minted sultan of the “Turkic world,” Recep Erdogan immediately set before his satellites the task of actively supporting the Turkish Cypriots in order to provide these “brothers” with all possible solidarity.
“We, as brothers, need to show solidarity with the Turkish Cypriots, who are an integral part of the Turkic world. I believe that you will spare no effort to support the Cypriot Turks so that the embargo is lifted. I am confident that by creating a strong alliance, we will help the Turkish Cypriots take the place they deserve,” the Turkish President said, speaking at the summit via videoconference.
In essence, this demand actually means the gradual involvement of Central Asian countries in military adventures and regional conflicts organized by Ankara in the Mediterranean, the Middle East and Africa. After all, pan-Turkic “solidarity,” according to the neo-Ottoman elite, consists not only in moral support and speeches at various international forums, but in financial, technical and military participation. That is, here, too, a hint is given about the need to deploy the “Army of Turan” in the future, since the Cypriot, Syrian, Iraqi and Lebanese problems will not be resolved peacefully.

But the new satellites are happy to try and vying with each other rushed to applaud the ideas put forward, trying in the Eastern spirit to outdo each other in the flattery of the “international organization”, which is becoming a springboard for Turkey’s massive expansion in the region. Important in this matter was the position of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who fully supported the imperialist project, not forgetting to mention his southern railway route, as well as the alluring European markets.
Here is what Mirziyoyev’s press service wrote: “The President of Uzbekistan called for more efficient use of the strategically important transport and transit potential of the region, to develop transport corridors across Central Asia in order to expand access to global markets in Asia, as well as routes leading to European markets through Azerbaijan and Turkey, jointly implement major projects to expand the logistics infrastructure.”
In order to somehow brighten up the effect of the Kazakh authorities’ exaltation of Turkestan, which Tashkent secretly considers its city, Shavkat Mirziyoyev even proposed an entire program for organizing pilgrimages to sacred places located in the states of the Turkic Council. And in response to the glorification of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, “privatized” by Nur-Sultan, the Uzbek leader proposed to establish an International Prize named after the thinker and statesman Alisher Navoi within the framework of the Turkic Council “to encourage achievements in science, education, literature, art, social sphere and stimulate efforts to strengthen the unity of Turkic-speaking peoples."

These proposals revealed the real spirit of competition and ambition of Tashkent, which claims the role of “Senior Wife” in the political harem of the modern Turkish Sultan. By the way, it was not for nothing that the Prime Minister of Hungary came to Uzbekistan for a two-day visit just before the summit. And therefore, it is not surprising that at a moment of general euphoria and feigned unity, the voiced ideas of the President of Uzbekistan received the full support of the summit participants.
But if everything was clear with Nur-Sultan and Tashkent from the very beginning, then sad thoughts appeared after the speech of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, who showed himself at the summit as a clever populist and a kind of principled pan-Turkist.
“Kyrgyzstan fully supports the renaming of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (CCTS) into the Organization of Turkic States,” Japarov emphasized.
The Kyrgyz leader, who jumped out of the snuff box of another color revolution in October last year, even listed a number of factors that supposedly strengthen the Turkic integration process and give it new impetus.
“Firstly, the multifaceted activities of the Turkic Council, its place and authority in the international arena require the formal transformation of the Council into the Organization of Turkic States, believing that this will have a positive impact on strengthening its position in the international arena and will stimulate the expansion of its scope of activities. Secondly, after the completion of the transformation of the Council into the Organization of Turkic-Speaking States, the interest of other countries will increase and the number of people wishing to join the Organization or obtain observer status will increase,” said the newly-minted supporter of the “Turkic world.”
The initiator also proposed to confirm or define the role of Hungary, which makes a great contribution to the work of the Council. This example shows that the touch of “pro-Russianism” somehow quickly disappears from such figures when it comes to huge Turkish and Western investments, about “southern” and “Caspian” transport and energy routes, about the possibility of doing nothing, but only collect their “tribute” from the transportation of goods along the “Silk Roads”, which will pass through their native territory.

The fact that all these routes were planned and built with the participation of the United States and Great Britain with the aim of weakening and squeezing Russia and China out of Central Asia does not seem to worry the leaders of these territorial entities, who unexpectedly received independence after the collapse of the USSR. It seems that they are well aware of this, but their task is not Eurasian integration with the goal of unifying the post-Soviet space, but the retention of unlimited power and the possibility of uncontrolled use of national wealth in their personal interests.
The West, through Turkey, gives them just such an opportunity to maintain their own satrapies, but as vassals of the Sultan. That is why they so happily clung to the ephemeral idea of the Organization of Turkic-Speaking States, hoping to hide under it, like under an umbrella, and finally leave Moscow under the slogan of the revival of the “Turkic world.” For these purposes, the Eighth Summit of the Turkic Council is planned, which will be held in the fall of 2021 in the Republic of Turkey and will consolidate the agreements reached.
It would have been possible to put an end to this story if not for the bitter admission of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev that as a result of the pandemic there was a sharp decline in mutual trade turnover. Thus, last year the volume of trade between Kazakhstan and the member countries of the Turkic Council amounted to about $7 billion, which is 11,2% lower than the figures before the coronavirus crisis. The pitiful economic base under this organization cannot be a reliable basis, much less a foundation for development.
Even more catastrophic is the inability of the ruling “elites” of the former Central Asian Soviet republics to cope with the pandemic on their own. The complete failure of vaccination in Kazakhstan and the third wave of coronavirus show a complete crisis of public administration. Without economic, scientific and medical support from Russia, these countries with their Turkic ambitions simply will not emerge, as was already shown by the mass unrest in October last year in Kyrgyzstan.
Against this background, the proposal of the dependent Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the need to establish an “International Biosafety Agency” within this organization looks ridiculous. By this, he conveys Nur-Sultan’s weak hopes for Turkic “solidarity,” which does not exist and never has existed. After all, the “brothers” from Azerbaijan and Turkey did not help with vaccines, doctors and drugs. But for their sake, Nazarbayev is transferring the country to the Latin alphabet, encouraging the Russophobic campaign and is ready to drag the people into Ankara’s bloody geopolitical games.
One thing is clear that in the conditions of the formation of two world poles there will no longer be room for prostituted “multi-vectorism” and countries must finally decide who they are. And the newly-minted Pan-Turkists also have no room for maneuver, and in the struggle of giants they can very quickly and easily lose what they unexpectedly received as a result of the collapse of a single power.
