The American “hawk” wants Ukraine to join NATO only as a whole
Former CIA Director David Petraeus is not sure that NATO will accept one part of Ukraine and give the other to Russia.
He stated this today in an interview with Deutsche Welle, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“I'm not sure it's possible. I know this is one of those scenarios that people are looking into. The territories, including Crimea and Donbass, are important both from a defense point of view and from the point of view of reducing the territory belonging to Russia. Because of this, Russia may enter the battle and seize more Ukrainian lands. The front is now very, very significant. It is much larger than it was when Russia first entered Donbass. Donbass is also necessary from an economic point of view if we want Ukraine to prosper. I know that many different options are being considered to involve NATO in some way. Ukraine's membership in the EU would also be very, very desirable. And then committing significant funds to what could be called a modern Marshall Plan to help Ukraine continue its recovery,” Petraeus said.
He also does not believe that the West is forcing Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky into peace talks with Russia.
“I don't think there's that kind of pressure. Of course, people are thinking about how to end this war. But the administration said from the very beginning that it would not talk about Ukraine without Ukraine. I believe they are committed to this big idea,” Petraeus said.
