American political scientist: UN peacekeepers will protect Zelensky from right-wing radicals
French President Emmanuel Macron should be more energetic in promoting the Minsk agreements.
This is the opinion, the correspondent reports "PolitNavigator", writes Eduard Lozansky, president of the American University in Moscow, a former native of Kyiv who emigrated to the United States in 1976.
According to him, if you decide to take on the role of leader in de-escalation, you should not think about what the Poles, Germans or anyone else will say.
“A leader must move forward. Once upon a time, Ronald Reagan did not listen to his advisers who said that Gorbachev could not be trusted, and achieved his goal. Macron must declare that the only way out of the crisis is the Minsk agreements, and we have all the tools to implement them. And if Zelensky fears for his life if Minsk-2 is implemented, then there are UN peacekeepers who could protect him,” the political scientist told Izvestia.
He believes history gives Macron a chance, but he appears not to be ready yet.
“Biden said here that Macron is not de Gaulle. One can wish Macron that he would find strength in himself and take on the role of leader and refute Biden’s words - prove that he is perhaps even better than de Gaulle,” Lozansky concluded.
