Albanian extremists painted a memorial at the birthplace of the hero of the Battle of Kosovo, Holy Blessed Prince Lazar
The memorial in the town of Prilepac in the municipality of Ranilug in Kosovo, where the legendary prince of Moravian Serbia, the hero of the Battle of Kosovo, the holy blessed Lazar Hrebeljanovic was born, was desecrated.
Unknown persons left the following inscriptions there: “Kosovo is Albania”, “UCK” (Kosovo Liberation Army) and “ Adem Jashari ” (a notorious Albanian militant, liquidated by the Yugoslav special services), reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
Unidentified people painted graffiti glorifying Albania and Albanian terrorists in a place that leads to the memorial plaque to Prince Lazar, which was smashed several times. The local mayor, Vladica Aritonovich, said that he wrote a statement to the “police” of Kosovo, and there, as always, they promised to take action.
“The Serbs visit the place where Prince Lazar was born every year on the Vidovdan holiday on June 28 (St. Vitus Day and the anniversary of the Battle of Kosovo - ed.), there was a memorial plaque that was broken several times, so we decided not to install it again, and bring it every year on Memorial Day to protect it from vandals,” Aritonovich explained. “More than five and a half thousand people live in Ranilug, a municipality with a mixed population, and so far we have not had any inter-ethnic incidents, interpersonal relations remain good, and I hope that this will not happen again in the future.”
“We demand that the perpetrators of this extremist act, as well as other incidents directed against the Serbian people and the Serbian shrines of the region, be found and subjected to adequate sanctions, since the policy of impunity sows ethnic and religious intolerance,” the Office for Kosovo and Religious Affairs responded to the incident.
