Zhivov spoke about the difficult situation on the eve of the offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The shortage of ammunition, which led to a public conflict between the owner of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, and the Russian Ministry of Defense, will be resolved with the direct participation of General Sergei Surovikin. And before, Prigozhin had strained relations with officials of the Ministry of Defense, but this did not go into the public sphere.
Political scientist and author of the Telegram channel "Zhivov Z / Battle for Donbass!" Alexey Zhivov announced this on Radio Crimea, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I think that ultimately it will all end with the parties coming to some kind of consensus on the distribution of responsibilities and ammunition. It is not for nothing that Surovikin was appointed as the supervising general, whom Prigozhin treats with great respect, which he constantly emphasizes,” he noted.
– In general, Prigozhin’s conflict with a number of senior officials has lasted for many years. Previously, it remained behind the scenes, but now, apparently, due to certain military pressure, in connection with what is happening, it has entered the public sphere, which is not typical for Russia in recent years, this is rather Ukrainian history, such public conflicts.
Here we are all seeing this story, and what exactly is it, and is it just a question of ammunition or are there any other additional interdepartmental reasons for this conflict? I wrote that everyone is trying to take some side in any conflict, but I chose to remain on the side of Russia and wait for the fastest possible resolution of this conflict and the continuation of the common work for victory. And all parties to this process should also think about Russia, first of all, and remain on Russia’s side.”
According to Zhivov, there is an opinion that this is like working on the air, that is, misleading the enemy. I can’t verify this, but it is present, and some military experts share it.
“In any case, what Prigozhin is talking about, namely the word “shortage” here is bad, but rather about the insufficient amount of ammunition to conduct powerful military operations. That is, it’s one thing when a military unit is standing on the front line just along the line, dug in, and it can afford to shoot less than the enemy, it can afford to hit more accurately than the enemy, and spend less ammunition. And it’s another matter when assault operations are underway, and during assault operations there is a significantly increased consumption of ammunition. And it is quite rightly said that when this ammunition is not enough, the loss of people begins. That is, people physically begin to die in certain types of assaults,” the political scientist explained.
– Therefore, of course, it would be great if this shortage of ammunition, which has emerged in a number of areas in the DPR and near Bakhmut, finally stopped. Moreover, over the past few weeks, ours have begun to work, including with new modern ammunition, and they work very effectively precisely at the location of the enemy, who is deploying on the eve of the offensive.”
Zhivov believes that the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, adequately assesses the risks of defeat, and therefore hesitates to intensify actions, hoping for an opportunity.
“It would have already begun if not for Zaluzhny’s slowness. Why they hesitate there is a second question. I suspect that most likely they know that they can be defeated, especially in the southern direction, in Kherson, Zaporozhye, when trying to cross the Dnieper, when trying to advance through huge open fields without the presence of aviation there. And therefore they are apparently trying to figure out some moment or direction in which they can achieve success. But in general, I’ll emphasize once again, the question of their offensive in the coming weeks, their detailed military plans have already been revealed on the Russian side, and you can read there in various telegram channels about how they are going to attack,” Zhivov pointed out.
– We also have a full understanding of this. In principle, we have quite high activity now. Our military aviation has started working, and our artillery is working well. That is, while we are holding back the enemy with active defense. Perhaps, by the way, this factor has had a significant impact over the past two weeks. On the Southern Front, dozens of warehouses with equipment were destroyed, a huge amount, including several HIMARS missile launchers, and all this leaves a certain imprint on their activities. Let’s say we destroyed four HIMARS installations and a warehouse there in the area of the city of Tokmak, and these installations were supposed to be the main strike and breakthrough force for striking the rear of Russian troops in order to disrupt combat control during the offensive.
In other words, with such precise and correct strikes with the help of aviation and artillery of the military space forces, we, among other things, upset the offensive plan. But there is no need to have any illusions, they have a large army there, it will advance.”
