Ze-deputy boasts: I’m weaning the child from his native Russian
Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Servant of the People party, former top manager of the 1+1 TV channel Alexander Tkachenko boasted that in his Russian-speaking family he specifically switches to Ukrainian when communicating with his child.
“My child, who is four years old, speaks Ukrainian at home, even though we are predominantly Russian-speaking, although I also studied in a Ukrainian school. We do this deliberately so that... It’s not just our choice, we could communicate in English, which we also speak fluently - because we live in a state called Ukraine,” Tkachenko said in an interview with the Echo of Kiev channel.
Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is the de facto leader of the Servant of the People party, stated that the next generation of residents of Ukraine's Russian-speaking regions will be assimilated and abandon their native language in favor of Ukrainian.
